Members of Iran’s House of Cinema, officials from the Office of the Deputy for Cinematic Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and representatives from Iran’s Farabi Cinematic Foundation will be attending the event.

The House of Cinema’s Stage and Dress Designer Guild Director Parvin Safari, ASIFA’s Iranian Board member Ravanbakhsh Sadeqi, Short Film Guild member Naqi Nemati, Editors Guild’s Council Director Mohammadreza Muiini, Documentarian Guild Director Mojtaba Mirtambasb and Islamic Revolution and Sacred Defense Cinema Guild Director Mohammadreza Sharafeddin will participate at the Cannes.

The House of Cinema stand at the Cannes will be organized by Houses of Cinema international secretary Hamidreza Purnasiri.

The cineastes should not attend the event as if they are tourists, because such behavior does not benefit Iran’s cinema and causes it problems, the Deputy Culture Minister for Cinematic Affairs Javad Shamaqdari told the Persian service of ISNA.

The director of the Farabi Cinematic Foundation Ahmad Mira’laii explained about the participation of this foundation at Cannes to the ISNA.

He said that about 15 Iranian films will be offered at the Cannes Film Market by Farabai and officials from the international section of the foundation as well as the Deputy Director Najjarian will attend the event.

Directors of the Persian Film and the Filmiran companies Gholamreza Musavi, Manijeh Hekmat and Ali Sartipi will also attend the event and the companies will also offer films at the Cannes Film Market.

Their journey is part of a project by the House of Cinema to dispatch Iranian cineastes to international events to be introduced to recent cinematic developments in the modern world.

Last year, 29 Iranian cineastes traveled Cannes, Berlinale, the Academy Awards and Paris film distributing companies and film production studios as a part of this program.
